My principal place of residence is in the Porirua City Council area. I am also standing for Hutt Mana Charitable Trust.
I promised voters three years ago I'd lead a Council focussed on getting the basics right. That we'd face up to our obligations to invest in critical infrastructure, repair the harbour, improve local roads, and never let politics get in the way of delivering the best outcomes for Porirua.
Despite the unforeseen challenges of a pandemic and resulting economic uncertainty, I've not wavered and, although we're a diverse city, the Council under my leadership has been stable and unified behind these common-sense objectives. Huge challenges remain, not least taking pressure off household rates which I know are just too high. To meet that challenge, we need honest, upfront leaders willing to put everything on the table, including amalgamation.
As Mayor, even when you disagree with me, I hope I've shown that I'll always be upfront and tell it like it is. And that I'll always put Porirua ahead of politics.
