ChoctoberFest is here!

Have you had your ChoctoberFest fix yet? This tasty festival is running until the end of October, so don’t miss out!

Right now, 16 Porirua cafés are serving up delicious and unique chocolatey drinks, all featuring the iconic Whittaker’s chocolate. There’s something for everyone – from hot chocolates, to frappes, and even a Whittaker’s-tini (adults only!), all vying to be Top of the Chocs.

From 8–16 October, ten of the participating cafés will also be serving up decadent baked treats as part of the Whittaker’s Bake Off.

Is a banoffee slice with a chocolatey twist your thing? Or how about a chocolate brownie topped with berry-swirled cheesecake? There are also gluten-free and dairy-free options available. Our website features the full range of baked delights on offer and lists how they cater to different dietary requirements.

We’re leaving it up to the public to taste and rate their favourite drinks and treats. Once you’ve tried them, make sure to visit the webpage to rate them.

“Porirua City Council created ChoctoberFest as a way to showcase the city’s fantastic hospitality businesses, while celebrating the much-loved Whittaker’s brand, made right here in Porirua,” says Reuben Friend, Councils’ General Manager Community & Partnerships.

With the October school holidays under way, ChoctoberFest is an option for families wanting to treat themselves. Or, if you want, leave the kids with a babysitter and enjoy a quiet choccie moment with some friends!

“The past few years have been tough on local businesses, so opportunities like this give them a chance to show what they can offer, and for the community to get behind them,” says Mr Friend.

“We want people from far and wide to take part in this new festival, which we would love to become an annual event for Porirua City.”
