Fun for all the whānau on Children's Day

Children's Day

Children's Day is shaping up to be a busy one for entire family.

Tamariki will rule the roost at this year’s Children’s Day in Porirua.

The free event, at Te Rauparaha Park from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 3 March, will be a great day for the whole whānau.

Activities will include face painting, outdoor inflatables, bubble fun, a petting zoo – with goats, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, alpacas and a pony – and you can even learn spectacular Taikoza drumming.

Young entrepreneurs will also be showcasing their home-made baking, arts and craft skills with the Kids’ Market.

Inside Te Rauparaha Arena there will be a preschoolers’ obstacle course and free entry into the Aquatic Centre from 11am to 1pm for children under 15.

One of the highlights of the day will undoubtedly be the movie Smallfoot, an animated comedy-adventure musical based on the adventures of a yeti called Migo, which will show on a big screen at the park, from 1pm.

Bring along a picnic or some kai to enjoy during the movie or in between the day’s activities.

Porirua Mayor Mike Tana says a day to celebrate our tamariki and whānau should not be passed up.

“Our city has a huge number of young people and I can’t wait to see everyone down there for this fantastic event.

“There’s lots to do for all ages – our tamariki will have so much fun!”
