Rough sleeping and homelessness in Porirua. Need a Helping Hand: Porirua City Services Guide

Rough sleeping and homelessness

If you think the behaviour of someone on the street is aggressive, unlawful, or unsafe, call New Zealand Police on 105, or for Emergencies, dial 111.

If you're concerned about the welfare of someone who may be sleeping rough or homeless, please phone Porirua City Council's Contact Centre on 04 237 5089, or report it through the Antenno App. Porirua City staff will then follow up with relevant agencies who may be able to provide help or support. (Please note during holiday periods, this service may be limited or not available.)

Need a Helping Hand: Porirua City Services Guide

With support from some of our key social service partners, Porirua City has developed a brochure which may be able to help you or someone you know get through some tough times. The brochure includes access to support with Food, Housing & Accommodation, Health, Youth Services, Financial, Information, Support Services, and Rainbow Services.

If you’d like hard-copies of the brochure for yourself or to give to someone you know just pop in to Porirua City Council in Cobham Court and grab as many as you need – they are free for everyone. You can also find a more comprehensive list of services under Community Directories.
