Like many of you, I’ve watched Porirua grow and change. I grew up here, I live here, and I raised my family here. I’m standing for Porirua City Council because I believe in listening to our communities, working hard on your behalf, and making sure your voice is heard.
Porirua is at a crossroads. The decisions we make now about housing, infrastructure, transport, and how we care for our environment will shape our city for generations to come. I’m committed to protecting our harbour and waterways, supporting strong local economies, and backing community-led efforts to create safer, more connected neighbourhoods.
With experience in communication, I know how to listen, advocate, and connect. I’m committed to open, transparent decision-making and to making sure our community stays informed and involved every step of the way. I believe good governance starts with respect, honesty, and putting people first.

Tena Koe,
It’s hypocritical to criticise Council policies if you’re not prepared to get involved yourself. Therefore I am standing in the Onepoto General Ward, where I live.
I grew up in the Bay, went to Viard and Mana College and for 16 years I was a lawyer at Porirua Community Law. I listened to members of my community who had problems and came up with solutions they could afford to pursue. That’s exactly what a City Council should do.
I am honest and reliable. I firmly believe in sticking to a budget. I’m good at lateral thinking and finding solutions. I’m not on Facebook because I think it’s a waste of time and I think election road signs look messy so these 150 words are all I have to persuade you to vote Chris Ellis #1. Otherwise I’ll go back to working on my boat. Thank you.

Meet Hemi - Candidate for Onepoto Ward
Born and raised in Porirua, Hemi is a proud father of three and a dedicated community leader. He works with tāne who have experienced trauma, supporting them to build healthier relationships and better futures.
Actively involved in grassroots mahi, Hemi is passionate about improving health and wellbeing for rangatahi, kaumātua, and whānau across the city.
On the side, he runs an ice cream truck, bringing smiles to tamariki and whānau at local events and around the streets of Porirua. He also leads from the front as captain of the Tawa Rugby Football Club Premier Team.
As a business owner, a local ratepayer, and someone committed to real change, Hemi is standing for Porirua City Council to bring strong, fresh leadership that truly reflects our people.
Porirua raised him, now he's ready to give back.

As someone born and raised in Porirua, I have seen our city grow and change throughout my life. I understand the challenges we face today and the opportunities we have for the future. Porirua is at a pivotal point, facing issues that will shape our city for generations to come. I bring experience, passion, and a fresh perspective needed to tackle these challenges and create lasting solutions. My commitment is to serve all members of our community and work collaboratively to make Porirua an even better place to live, work, and raise our families. Together, we can build a thriving, vibrant future for our city.
Vote 1 for Jaistone
Independent
My principal place of residence is in the Onepoto General Ward area. I am also standing for Mayor.
Porirua needs strong, accountable leadership that delivers better value for money and genuine transparency. As a proud seventh-generation local raising the eighth, I believe Porirua should be a place where everyone - no matter how long they've been here - can afford to live, thrive, and be heard.
Over the past three years on Council, I’ve stood up for residents, demanded transparency, and challenged wasteful spending. With a background in business, finance, and community housing, I bring the practical skills to manage money, work with people, and get things done.
If re-elected I will make sure the new water entity delivers for Porirua and is truly accountable to the people who pay for it.

Vote 1 for leadership that puts Porirua people first - committed to transparency, accountability, and making every dollar count.

Porirua has always been home. Growing up in the East, Christine and I have raised our family in Tītahi Bay. As a sitting councillor, I’ve consistently fought for sensible spending and value for money.
Porirua faces big challenges - none more pressing than getting the best deal for our water services. Roads, footpaths, parks, and our harbour must remain our core priorities.
The council must be transparent and inclusive and focus on what really matters. We need to cut the cloth to suit ratepayers’ budgets, starting with a line-by-line review of spending. I’m committed to that.
Our young people and Porirua’s rich diversity are strengths we must grow by helping to set the scene for good local jobs.
I’ve been diligent in my role by reading every council paper and making informed decisions with common sense. Please vote me 1 to keep a thoughtful, practical voice at the table.

Kia Ora. My name is Miriam Albert.
Porirua born and raised. A self-employed problem solver in the struggling class.
Not usually the type to put myself out there, but going to stand up for better decisions.
I am for a change in direction that focuses on the fundamentals: core infrastructure, water upgrades, and waste management.
I can listen and support all classes of our community. I am a practical person, very straightforward, not loud or flashy.
I stand for the voices that I feel aren't being heard. I also want to help advocate for small local businesses and hope to make our city centre carparks full and freely accessible again.
It is my absolute priority to ease living cost pressures on our families by stopping unnecessary spending and reducing rate increases because people are struggling and don’t need added stress.
Make a better future Porirua, for our kids to inherit.

A big storm nearly flooded our home. Our neighbours weren’t so lucky. No matter how hard we help each other in our communities, we also need a Council that steps up. That’s why I ran for Council.
Since then, I’ve worked to make Council business more transparent, backed investment in new libraries, helped reduce sewage discharges when it rains, and secured a Water Charter that puts people first.
We’ve made progress, but things have to work better and feel fairer. A leadership that shows up, speaks up, and builds support around the table to get results.
There’s still work ahead: balancing Council’s budget to deliver sustainable rates and long-term savings; restoring our harbour and green spaces; and fixing the recycling at your whare.
If you feel the same, put 1 next to Geoff Hayward: for fair, local, forward-looking leadership.

I’ve proudly served Porirua as a City Councillor and through involvement in our community. With 12 years on Council, including six as Deputy Mayor, I bring experienced leadership and a clear understanding of council processes as well as the challenges and opportunities we face.
Years of underinvestment in essential infrastructure have led to tough decisions. This Council has stayed focused on the future, making those tough choices to ensure Porirua is well-prepared for the years ahead.
A vote for Ford means ongoing collaboration, progress, and leadership that works to deliver results.

Over the past six years, I’ve proudly served our community on the Porirua City Council. I’ve stayed grounded, accessible, and focused on what matters most: people.
I’ve stood up for our community by:
Voting against paid parking and rates increases that would have hit families hardest; Supporting investment in local infrastructure and community spaces; Representing our voices to ensure decisions reflect our realities.
I’m the only Tokelauan and one of just three Pacific councillors. That voice is at risk. Our Council should reflect the people it serves.
I’m standing again to serve with honesty, heart, and purpose.
If re-elected, I will:
Champion affordable, people-first decisions; Make sure Pacific and grassroots voices are heard; Nurturing villages of strength, safety, and connection - for us, by us.
Let’s keep pushing for a Porirua that works for all of us.

I will be a voice for the whole community.
I have lived in Titahi Bay for over 20 years. I am standing for Councillor in Onepoto Ward.
My commitment is to you, my community, whether you are renting or own your own home, as rates increases continue affect everyone. I stand for more transparency and accountability in all areas, whilst looking at more effective ways of spending rate payers money.
Through me, your voice will be heard. I want Porirua’s environment and people to thrive.

Porirua’s packed with potential. Too often though, progress is stalled by tired thinking and leadership that’s lost touch with our communities. I’m here to stand up for real support for whānau, local businesses, and community spaces that truly serve the people who use them.
I’m not here for the talkfest, I’m here to get things done. That means fresh ideas that bring income into the city so the rates burden doesn’t keep piling on everyday people.
We need smarter solutions that ease pressure on households while still moving our city forward. It’s time for new energy on council.
Our people need more local jobs, a cleaner harbour, and a city that stays affordable for everyone.
You deserve a councillor who shows up, does the mahi, and puts people first. That’s me. Now is our time.

It is time for change. I am committed to making our community better through, transparency, responsible stewardship, and inclusive decision-making.
Together, let’s safeguard and promote our local people, their initiatives, businesses, and environment. Let’s collaborate on innovative ways to reduce high costs in these tough economic times. Let’s make positive change for everyone in Porirua. Your voice matters.

Kia ora! I am Yan a Justice of the Peace candidate and a solo mum from Titahi Bay raising a bright neurodivergent boy.
I have walked the hard road caregiving, budgeting, surviving and it was community that lifted me up.
Now I am working to give back and help grow what we already love, building support that is visible, local and lasting.
We all cherish the Love Local Expo, that once a year moment where stories are shared and people feel seen and valued.
What if that spirit was here every day online and on the ground powered by all of us?
Imagine a shared kitchen where locals gain food safety training and sell homemade kai legally, a sensory friendly lounge where trained volunteers homeschool children while parents enjoy a quiet cuppa and breathe.
Together we are building a Porirua where no one is left behind!

I’m a proud Titahi Bay resident, high school teacher and former policy analyst. I’m standing because we need progressive change to make sure the Council serves the interests of our people and the environment.
I want to help make Porirua a more vibrant place with well-maintained infrastructure, accessible public services, clean waterways and harbours, and restored forests in which native wildlife flourishes.
We need to make long-term decisions that help future generations thrive, such as managing our water and waste services properly, preparing for the impacts of climate change, and building healthy and resilient communities.
The brightest future is the one we shape together, which is why I want to explore new ways of making decisions that include the whole community, including mana whenua and rangatahi.
If elected, I will be an active councillor that listens to the community and fights to make sure your voices are heard.
