The following criteria and eligibility shall be used to guide the determination of inductees into the Porirua City Hall of Fame:
They are or have been a resident of Porirua City for a minimum of 5 years and achieved international excellence or recognition on the international stage in their chosen field.
- Sports people who have achieved world acclaimed titles whist residing in Porirua, unless the sport is not catered for in Porirua.
- Artists and Performers who have performed on the international stage and received international recognition.
- Writers published in several countries
- Politicians or prominent citizens who had a major portfolio or position that put them on the international scene.
- Science, Technology experts, Engineers and or Mathematicians who are responsible for the significant contribution to their field and innovation or breakthrough.
- The nominee considers themselves to be a person of Porirua.
- Their achievements are a source of pride for citizens of Porirua.
The selection decision process will remain confidential to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
The following process is for new inductees of the Porirua City Hall of Fame.
- Nominations can be made at any time, however the committee will review throughout the year and will induct on an annual basis.
- The Hall of Fame Selection Committee considers all eligible nominations that meet the Hall of Fame selection criteria.
- Council Officers will research individuals identified by Hall of Fame Selection Committee in accordance with timeframes established by the Committee.
- A report will be provided to the committee confirming individual’s achievements that meet the criteria and are to be considered for inclusion on the Porirua City Hall of Fame. The Committee will make determination based on the selection criteria and quality of achievement, not the endorsement of nomination.
- Upon confirmation of new inductees Council Officers will locate and select appropriate photographic image(s), and progress installation on wall.
- A Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be provided at a time specified by the Hall of Fame Selection Committee and coordinated by Porirua City.
