Porirua Libraries are pleased to announce that the new
Titahi Bay Library opens next week.
The library opens on Monday 9 December in the old Plunket building on Whitehouse Road, says branch librarian Shamila Gurr.
“Titahi Bay locals will have seen work underway in recent weeks,“ she says.
“Although it is small, we think it’s perfectly formed.
“We plan to keep library stock moving so that material stays fresh and new for users, and we are very keen to hear suggestions from Titahi Bay residents on what they’d like to see in their collection.”
The library is trialling Saturday opening hours, from 10am to 1pm.
“We’d like to offer locals the chance to use their library during the weekend, given that many families are away from home during week days,” Ms Gurr says.
“The trial ends on 30 June 2020 and will continue only if it proves popular – so people are encouraged to vote with their feet if they want Saturday hours!”
Preschool story times and junior craft sessions are two of the regular planned programmes for the new library.
Porirua Libraries would like to hear any ideas for other library programmes.
“Adult colouring in? Guided meditation? Book clubs? All suggestions and comments are gratefully received, as we’d like our new library to belong to everyone in the community.”

We look forward to seeing you soon.
