Finding what you’re looking for on our library website just got a whole lot easier. The new website, launched this month, is packed with fresh new content and features.
“You can now search the library catalogue directly from the front page and our website is mobile and tablet friendly,” says Brian Anderson, Manager City Libraries.
“Our new library website also has Porirua Library’s Facebook feed on the home page, so you can connect with us more easily that way as well.”
The home page features “What’s on” so you can check out what’s happening at our main library and branches during term time and school holidays, and our great offerings, like Book Club in a Bag, e-books, audio books and housebound services.
“Porirua’s central and community libraries are special places. Each has its own distinctive identity and that’s reflected on our new website,” he says.
You can check your library card online, reserve an item, use the library catalogue, or borrow an item from any of the libraries in the SMART library group – Porirua, Hutt City, Masterton, Kāpiti, WelTec and Whitireia libraries.
We are also adding a new version of the library catalogue with additional functions, such as dedicated searches for eBooks or DVDs and a new dashboard display to view your library information.
The research resources section has links to funding databases, encyclopedias and dictionaries, Index New Zealand, Māori, Pasifika and New Zealand history sites and Who else writes like? – where you can discover new authors based on old favourites.
“As well as fresh new content on every page, the updated library website brings us up to date with current web standards, is easier to update, and has a clean new look and feel.”
The changes are part of a wider move across Porirua City websites to make it easier for people to connect with us. Visit the new library website at the old library address: porirualibrary.org.nz
