Lyttelton Ave car park.
A meeting and workshop of the full Porirua City Council was held this morning, Thursday 31 July. Here is a wrap of what was covered.
In the public forum, Council heard from two residents of Thompson Grove about their experiences with flooding, and a student from Mana College spoke about a seaweed project he and a classmate are working on as an idea to improve harbour health.
The Mayor highlighted some of her activities since the last full Council meeting before recommendations from last week’s Te Puna Kōrero meeting were confirmed.
Next on the agenda, Council deliberated on whether to keep or sell the Lyttelton Ave car park. Consultation on options for the car park was carried out in May and 19 submissions were received.
After some discussion on a possible amendment, Council voted to put the decision on hold until more information could be gathered.
Finally, Council approved a submission to the Government on the draft National Infrastructure Plan.
At the workshop following the meeting, Council received an update on a School Parking Signs initiative which is being gradually rolled out by schools to encourage safer parking at drop off and pick up times.
