Te Rauparaha Arena will be a shoppers’ dream on 8 June.
One of the biggest events on the Porirua calendar is set down for 8 June this year: the Love Local Expo.
Te Rauparaha Arena will be bursting at the seams as vendors showcase the best that our city has to offer, from products and services, to crafts and community events.
There will be offerings including craft beer, cupcakes, jewellery, custom homewares, gyms and cheerleading, activities and exhibits.
Love Local began in 2020 as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, giving Porirua businesses a boost coming out of lockdowns.
Porirua Mayor Anita Baker says visitors can enjoy some of the best the city has to offer under one roof for the day.
“It’s an event not to be missed. Come check out the innovation, service and quality our city businesses have to offer, and enjoy the vibrancy that is Porirua,” she says.
“I congratulate our successful businesses - big and small - for choosing to help make Porirua a great place to live, work and play. Also, thanks to the different parts of our Council for working hard to make it happen.”
Entry to the Arena is free and stallholders will get their exhibition spaces for no charge. Applications to be a vendor have already closed.
Visitors will once again get the chance to win a year’s supply (52 blocks) of Whittaker’s chocolate by voting for their favourite Love Local booth. The booth with the most votes will win a People’s Choice award – last year it was pop-up bakery Sweet & Co – and will receive a free professional photo shoot for their business.
There are many ways to get to Te Rauparaha Arena for the expo – catch the train to Porirua and walk or e-scooter around the harbour path to the venue, catch a bus to stops on Norrie St and Lyttelton Ave, or park close by. Car parking might be difficult to get in the Arena car park on the day.
