Landfill fees will raise by about 10% from 1 February.
This is happening because the cost of carbon credits is rising under the Emission Trading Scheme, and our charges need to rise to meet this increase. The waste in Spicer Landfill causes the creation and emission of greenhouse gases.
Taking a car-load of general rubbish to the landfill will cost $21 from 1 February (just green waste is $11.50), while a small trailer will be $44.50 (green waste $23.50).
