1. Protect cultural and heritage values through cautious management of land disturbance and structures.  Consider that any land disturbance could potentially impact on wahi tapu values.
   
   
2. Protect the coastal landscape and the regenerating scrub values, promoting healthy ecological functioning through animal and plant pest control. Protect the coastal ecology and existing restoration planting on the bank, and increase native planting as funding opportunities allow. Acknowledge the role of the pines as roosting sites, replacing them with native trees when their health dictates removal. Ensure that land management does not cause any adverse impact on nearby Duck Creek or the Pauatahanui Inlet.
   
   
3. Encourage casual recreation by maintaining natural open spaces, a walking opportunity and access to the coast.
   
   
4. Protect street-to-street, reserve-to-reserve connections, and ridge-to-coast ecological connections.
