Separated from Taupo Swamp by railway, but formerly part of the same ecosystem. 

Extensively damaged by fire (in 1990s).

This is not a Crown Derived Reserve.

Utilities (Minor): Water Supply, Stormwater.

1. Manage the reserve for natural and cultural values.
   
   
2. Safeguard the cultural heritage values through cautious management of any land disturbance or structure proposals.
   
   
3. Protect the remnant wetland values (including threatened species) to achieve healthy ecological functioning through animal and weed pest control as funding opportunities allow, and through natural regeneration.  Improve the wetland functioning over time, increasing riparian area where possible for erosion reduction and fish spawning habitat.
