Arena Aquatics go ahead with winter shutdown

Arena Aquatics

The aquatic centre will be closed from 22 July to about 12 August.

The aquatic centre in Te Rauparaha Arena will close its doors later this month for its planned two-yearly maintenance work programme.

The programme will include work behind the scenes in pool plant and filtration services, as well as incorporating new energy-efficient equipment where possible. Poolside, there will be a general refresh of painting and flooring, new safety railings and seating, and upgraded locker storage.

The aquatic centre will be closed from 22 July until about 12 August.

“This planned work is necessary to prolong the life of this amazing asset our community has and to keep giving our customers the positive experience they expect at Arena Aquatics,” said Glenn Quintal, Manager Recreation.

“It’s important that we do this every two years and we appreciate everyone’s patience while the work is completed.”

Many regular users have been informed of the closure already and Cannons Creek Pool will have some availability for lane swimming. Call the facility or check the website for more information.

Other areas within Te Rauparaha Arena, like Arena Fitness, courts, along with events, sports bookings and meeting rooms, will continue to operate as usual. Please check our website for ongoing updates, Mr Quintal said.

Te Rauparaha Arena’s aquatic centre is one of Porirua’s most popular facilities, with more than 200,000 visits by customers using the facility and programmes each year.
