Committee wrap - 11 September

tb road closure

There will be a temporary road closure on Owhiti St in Titahi Bay on 1 November.

Te Puna Kōrero is the main committee that makes decisions about the city’s strategic direction and framework. It is made up of the Mayor, all councillors and the Council Kaumātua.

Today marked the 45th and final Te Puna Kōrero meeting of the triennium.

Prior to the meeting starting officially, the committee acknowledged the passing last week of Maxine Arnold, who served the community as a representative of Porirua City Council, Wellington Regional Council and the Porirua District Licensing Trust.

There were no speakers in the public forum.

First on the agenda, the committee approved a temporary road closure for a Te Āhuru Mōwai community event on Saturday 1 November. The temporary closure will be on Owhiti St in Titahi Bay, between Dimock St and Shelley St, from 9am–3pm.

Next up, the committee agreed to make the Proposed District Plan fully operative. The Plan has been partially operative since 21 August.

Finally, the committee received an update on alcohol licensing costs ahead of the Alcohol Fees Bylaw’s scheduled year two increase on 1 October.

In the workshop following the meeting, Council received an update on the Know Your Pipes project and on private drinking water leaks.
