Rates notices are going out this week and it will include the average 7.65% increase agreed when we set the city’s budget in the Long-term Plan.

There has been some public debate about how rates are calculated and allocated. With this in mind, Porirua Mayor Anita Baker, Councillors and Council staff will be available to answer the public’s questions about rates at three public information sessions.

There is one online zoom session and two in-person sessions, and anybody is welcome to join.

More about rates:

Rates are essential to keep the city running, and to fund critical investment in our infrastructure. To make payment easier, we encourage people to spread rates payments over the year. If paying by direct debit you can choose to pay weekly, fortnightly, monthly or by instalment. To find out more about how our rates are set, what they cover and payment options – go here.
