School holiday fun at our libraries

We may not be able to travel globally right now, but tamariki can ‘Read around the World’ this school holidays at Porirua libraries, with a programme of fun activities to keep curious minds entertained.

This will take our young ones on a creative journey with songs, stories, and crafts from across the planet, so don’t miss it!

20–30 April Read Around the World – Whitby Library. Come and help us fill our international tree with leaves, play international reading bingo, complete word finds and explore with our popular ‘Hunt Around
the Library’.

Tuesday 20 April River Trails
– Porirua City Library, 10.30–11.30am. We will be listening to stories, songs and doing craft activities that follows a series of rivers. You’ll have a chance to win
a copy of Rivers, by Peter Goes!

Thursday 22 April Planet of Sound – Porirua City Library, 10.30–11.30am. Come around for a sound immersion with stories, songs and craft session starring some of the greatest singers and bands the world has ever known.

Friday 23 April Pasifika Stories – Cannons Creek Library, 1.30–2.30pm. Come along and listen to local and Pasifika stories and also make a beautiful flower lei.

Tuesday 27 April Global Girl Power
– Porirua City Library, 10.30–11.30am. We’ve searched the world to find tales of mighty girls who’ve overcome huge hurdles to reach the highest heights. Hear their tales and retell them – with an international cast of paper dolls you can cut out and keep.

Thursday 29 April Boys Can Do Anything – Porirua City Library, 10.30–11.30am. We’ve searched the world to find tales of boys who’ve achieved astounding feats of mind, body and creativity. Extend yourself with a selection of word finds and paper craft activities.

Friday 30 April International Stories – Cannons Creek Library, 1.30–2.30pm. Come and listen to international stories from Iraq to South America and get the opportunity to make an Ojo de Dios (God’s eye) from Mexico.
