Pop-up Porirua

If you’re really keen to set up shop in Porirua, Pop-up Porirua can help you test the waters before you make the leap.

Pop-up Porirua is an initiative of Porirua City that allows small business owners, artists, and community organisations to establish a foothold in Porirua through a short-term ‘Pop-up’ shop in the heart of the city centre or along the waterfront.

To date Pop-up Porirua has showcased theatre companies, art exhibitions, fitness classes and gyms, and clothing stores.

We’ve also launched the Harbour’s edge pop up which is home to three new businesses – Blue Bell Club, GetFixed Bicycle Café and Grilla BBQ.

The next exciting step is the City Hub space which will allow small businesses to co-work, have a space to show off their wares through market activations, and pop-up weekends.

We're excited to continue providing new ways to support small businesses in Porirua!

City Hub

Small businesses and start-ups now have the opportunity to use a popular space in the City Centre.

The City Hub is located next to Hell Pizza at 17A Hartham Place N and has been set up to be used as a co-working space (or for business meetings) Monday – Thursday  9am – 12.30pm.

From 12.30pm – 4pm the space is available to be booked for workshops, meetings or by start-up businesses to showcase and conduct their business.

On Fridays the City Hub is available as a ‘trade show’ space for a variety of businesses, whilst the weekend is reserved for all day workshops, art exhibitions or market type activity.

There'll also be an exciting programme - City Hub Conversations, which will provide education to small businesses on a variety of topics relevant to growing and improving their business.

Porirua city will assist in promoting whoever is in the City Hub using media channels such as Facebook, City Centre News and the 'What’s Happening' section in the Kapi Mana.

Successful applicants will need to meet the following guidelines:

•Their project is ready to go and just requires a venue to start

•It does not compete directly with existing CBD businesses

•It has a high degree of professionalism

•It aligns with at least one of the criteria outlined in the programme

•It adheres to health and safety legislation

Successful applicants must keep the space neat and tidy, both inside and outside, especially at the end of the pop-up term.

The City Hub in Porirua will be available until 31 October. For more information contact Esther.Hutton@poriruacity.govt.nz
