Keen to get your boat out on the water? Then roll up your trousers!

The waters around Porirua are a popular playground for boaties from all over the Wellington region – remember to always wear your lifejacket and take two ways you can call for help if you get into trouble.

Boat launching facilities are provided at the following locations:

Dolly Varden

Karehana Bay 

  • small timber ramp
  • good for canoe launching


Onepoto Ramp

  • concrete ramp
  • small jetty
  • good parking facilities


Paremata bridge (Mana foreshore)

  • boat launching off the beach
  • all tides
  • good parking facilities

A small craft can also launch at various locations around Pāuatahanui Inlet.


Pukerua Bay

  • single access
  • concrete (steep) single ramp
  • limited parking available


Titahi Bay

You can launch your boat from both the north and south end of the beach


Wi Neera Foreshore 

  • timber jetty
  • no vehicle access
  • good for Waka Ama launching
