Keen to get your boat out on the water? Then roll up your trousers!

The waters around Porirua are a popular playground for boaties from all over the Wellington region – remember to always wear your lifejacket and take two ways you can call for help if you get into trouble.

Boat launching facilities are provided at the following locations: 

Public boat launching facilities

Pukerua Bay

  • single access
  • concrete (steep) single ramp
  • limited parking available

Please note there will be construction works around the boat ramp during January/February 2018.  Check our webpage for updates and closures.

Karehana Bay 

  • small timber ramp
  • good for canoe launching

Dolly Varden

  • sand ramp 
  • small boats

Paremata bridge (Mana foreshore)

  • boat launching off the beach
  • all tides
  • good parking facilities

A small craft can also lauch at various locations around Pāuatahanui Inlet.

Onepoto Ramp

  • concrete ramp
  • small jetty
  • good parking facilities

Wi Neera Foreshore 

  • timber jetty
  • no vehicle access
  • good for Waka Ama launching

Titahi Bay Beach 

  • You can launch your boat from both the north and south end of the beach.
