After a review of our Transport Bylaw in late 2021, vehicles are no longer allowed on Titahi Bay Beach, other than for launching boats or unloading items at a boatshed. This decision was made to improve safety for all beach users.
To help make sure these restrictions are followed, from 7 March 2022 the beach gates will be kept locked – with keys made available to boatshed owners and boaties.
The criteria for issuing keys is available here, along with a form to complete. Please download the form, fill it in and either bring it into Council or email to enquiries@poriruacity.govt.nz
A bond is charged for keys to encourage them to be used responsibly. It’s important that key holders lock the gates after they’ve used them, for example.
You can drive to your boatshed to load or unload items, then you need to park your car somewhere other than the beach.
