Local halls

We support local groups and community organisation by providing local halls for meetings and events.

Covid-19 - We take safety seriously and we will be abiding by the Covid-19 Protection Framework. Please refer to our poriruacity.govt.nz/covid page for the latest Covid-19 setting and guidelines for hiring community halls.


Porirua City Council owns halls and other local venues that are available for hire for meetings, social events and seminars. Phone us on (04) 237 5089 or email enquiries@poriruacity.govt.nz to find out if the site’s available and any cost that applies. We’ll send you a contract to sign.

Mungavin Hall

Mungavin Hall (also called Community or Porirua Hall) on Mungavin Avenue has two spaces for hire:

  • main hall – holds 400 people for meetings or 250 for receptions and has a curtained stage plus kitchen and toilets
  • supper room – holds 100 people and has its own kitchen, toilets and separate entrance.

Ngāti Toa Hall

Subject to Covid-19 framework, please refer to www.poriruacity.govt.nz/covid

Ngāti Toa Hall in Ngāti Toa Domain, Mana, holds up to 175 people, with a separate supper area and kitchen.

Plimmerton Hall

Subject to Covid-19 framework, please refer to www.poriruacity.govt.nz/covid

Plimmerton Hall on Sunset Parade, Plimmerton, has two spaces for hire and share a kitchen:

  • main hall – holds 150 people and has a stage with separate dressing room, and is also suitable for indoor bowls
  • supper room – holds 50 people and has a separate entrance.

The dressing room can also be hired, provided there isn’t a social function in the hall.
