Council’s Te Puna Kōrero Committee is the main committee responsible for implementing the city’s strategic direction and framework. It usually meets fortnightly. Today’s meeting was the first for 2024.

First on the agenda, the committee received a report on Porirua’s alcohol licensing expenditure. After asking a few questions, the committee agreed to go out for public consultation on the Alcohol Fees Bylaw, which would look to move the bulk of the cost of alcohol licensing onto the applicant, and away from ratepayers.

The committee then received the half-year financial summary for Council, dated to 31 December 2023, before being updated on how Council’s major projects are tracking. The committee is updated on the progress of major projects on a quarterly basis.

There were no speakers in the public forum.
