Our Long-term Plan (LTP) outlines to our community how we intend to invest for the next 10+ years. Any year there is not an LTP review and we have significant projects that require public feedback, we will develop an Annual Plan.
Our Long-term Plan for Porirua City
Porirua City's Long-term Plan tells the story of why we are focusing on the areas we are, what you told us during consultation, and what was agreed. It also sets out all the detail of the Financial Strategy, Infrastructure Strategy, Revenue and Financing Policy, and the Significance and Engagement Policy.

LTP consultation
The consultation period for the 2024–34 LTP was open from 26 March to 26 April 2024.

We received a lot of feedback from the city during consultation which helped councillors with their decisions for the LTP.
Our engagement portal contained a wealth of information during the consultation period – the consultation document, key dates, submission form, latest news and supporting documents. Key proposal
On 6 June 2024 Council considered community feedback as part of their decision making process for the LTP.
Council agreed to introduce a new rates-funded kerbside rubbish and recycling collection in 2027/28. To see more information on Council’s decisions for the LTP click here and refer to meeting reports on 6 June and 27 June 2024.

Timeline
26 March to 26 April: Formal consultation
The draft 2024-34 Long-term closed for consultation.
14 to 15 May 2024: Hearings
Council met to hear submissions.
6 June 2024: Deliberations
Deliberations provided an opportunity to consider community feedback on what was proposed and make implementation decisions as part of the LTP.
27 June 2024: Adoption
The 2024-34 Long-term Plan for Porirua City was adopted.
Performance framework
A performance framework isn't just our performance measures. It includes the Council's strategic priorities, the levels of service we set, and how we measure our performance. A good framework has a strong link from the strategic priorities to the performance measures. Our activities are not independent. They all contribute to the outcomes the Council is trying to achieve.
