Report broken streetlights

Please report any issues with streetlights – such as lights not working, flickering, left on during the day, obscured by trees – so we can come and fix it for you. It's also useful if you can give us specific details about the location of the light (and if more than one light is out).

There are a number of ways to report a street light issue:

  • phone us on (04) 237 5089
  • fill in and submit the form below
  • use Antenno (a free mobile app you can use to tell us about something that needs fixing or report something directly to us. Once you've downloaded the app, just go to the new 'Your reports' menu, and add a report to tell us about it). Read more about Antenno

LED lighting

LED street lights have been installed across the city. These provide a softer white light that can be directed where it is needed and are more energy efficient when compared to the older street lights. Switching to LED lights has provided the following benefits:

  • better light that gives clearer colours and detail – leading to safer streets
  • less light pollution as the light can be directed
  • cleaner for our environment – recyclable and contain no toxic material
  • energy saving – use a third of the energy compared to existing lights
  • longer life – last four to six times longer
  • reduce the city's power and maintenance bills
  • quick to light up.
