WAKEM Bev

My principal place of residence is in the Northern/Pukerua ki te Raki Ward area.

For the past 14 years I've lived on a farm in the Northern Ward running sheep and horses. I have previously worked for Wrightson Ltd in Porirua. I am a member of the Pauatahanui Residents Association which is active on behalf of the rural community. So I bring a strong rural perspective to the Council table.

As a former Ombudsman and Chief Ombudsman, I've monitored regional and local government entities across New Zealand, dealing with ratepayers' complaints about service delivery, poor communication, or a lack of appropriate consultation.

Consequently, I have a unique perspective on the working of local councils.

I've had over 30 years of experience in governance and management roles within the State Sector and commercial enterprises, and have held substantial leadership roles with national and international organisations. I bring all that experience to bear in representing the Northern Ward.
