Our playgrounds are something quite special – along with the traditional seesaws, jungle gyms, and swings, we have playgrounds with ‘mouse wheels’, flying foxes, net climbing frames, forts, and 360º basket swings.

"This wee gem is impossible to spot unless you're looking for it. Reachable only by the Whitby Walkways, it's a bit like hunting for treasure! I love the peaceful setting at this playground, being surrounded by bush, the bird song is strong with this one! Or if you time it right you can hear the amazing drumming from Samuel Marsden. Swings, slide, flying fox and climbing frame this playground has it all.” – Whitby Walkway Park, Playgrounds of Porirua
Open from 9 am daily, families can bring a picnic, umbrella and blanket, and spend the day having a splashing good time on our splash pad. It's safe and it's free.
The day is all about supporting and nurturing our tamariki, honouring their mana and putting them first. What better way to celebrate Children’s Day than with a free event at Aotea Lagoon, packed to the brim with fun. Held on the first Sunday of March each year.
