Porirua offers a wide variety of beautiful locations, we're lucky to have some of the lower North Island’s best regional parks right on our doorstep. Battle Hill Forest Park is very popular horse riding destination and Belmont Regional Park encompasses the hills between Porirua and Hutt Valley, and is a favourite destination for walkers, mountain bikers, and horse riders.

Green Barn Stables and Riding School

A fantastic place to learn to ride, Green Barn Stables offers instructions to people of all ages, they also offer treks, school holiday programmes and can host birthday parties. With its fenced, roofed arena, you can hone your riding skills in all weather.

Down the road, local Barry Simpson of Barry's Place Saddlery  provides everything you need in the way of equine supplies, you'll find them at 516 Paekākāriki Hill Road, Pāuatahanui.

Wellington Riding for the Disabled

Provides equestrian training and rehabilitation for people with physical and intellectual disabilities. Porirua City is a keen supporter of this not-for-profit organisation. 610 Paekākāriki Hill Road, Pāuatahanui.
