As chosen by young people and the youth sector, Youth Week 2023 is celebrating the theme: 'Rangatira mō āpōpō? Rangatira i tēnei rā! ' (Leaders of tomorrow? Leaders for today!).
Porirua City Civil Defence Emergency Management together with Wellington Regional Emergency Management Office (WREMO) will be conducting exercise ‘City Ember’ on Thursday 11 May 2023.
As part of the exercise we will have two college students who are budding paramedics help assist setting up and resourcing of the Emergency Assistance Centre (EAC) at Mungavin Hall during this exercise to simulate the unpacking and setting up an EAC alongside an EOC during a formal activation.
This activity will focus on exercising Community Welfare/Assistance in response to a major event
Head down to the Cannons Creek Boxing Academy Youth Night, hear from founder Billy Graham, try your skills in the ring, learn boxing skills at mini workshops and kai.

The Pasifika Leadership Symposium and Careers Expo is an opportunity for our community to share with our future leaders their experiences through story telling around navigating their aspirations.
The Leadership Symposium is a closed off event to year 12 and year 13 students attending schools in Porirua.
The Careers Expo open to all young people to come share experiences, be informed around options after college and to celebrate all young people.

At an Inspiring the Future event, young people hear from volunteer role models in their communities, learn about different jobs and why people love doing them, as well as their pathway and challenges they faced along the way.
Inspiring the Future can broaden their horizons, and help challenge stereotypes that can limit their potential by bridging the gap between schools and the world of work.
