Wellington Water operates a permit system on behalf Porirua City Council for water tanker operators to draw water from the Council’s network. Once a permit is issued, operators can access water from any of the four authorised hydrants in the city to fill their tankers. The four authorised hydrant sites are in Hampshire Street Cannons Creek, Hoff’s Place Kenepuru, Marina View Mana and Samwell Drive in Whitby.
Operators are required to log the volume of water taken per month and supply that information to Porirua City Council for billing purposes.
Water tanker operators are considered commercial customers.
