Water

Wai, wai, everywhere - and tino pai to drink. Here's what we do in Porirua City to make sure our water is safe, sustainable, and accessible.

Water restrictions

During daylight saving or in times of drought our use of water is restricted.

Wellington Water

Council recently heard from Wellington Water on the key issues facing our city with regard to the three waters: drinking water, wastewater (all the water that goes down our sinks and toilets) and stormwater (rain water that runs off our roofs and streets)

Water & sewage connections

Wellington Water manages water treatment and supply, stormwater and wastewater service delivery for Porirua city.

Onsite wastewater systems

All onsite wastewater systems, for example a septic tank, or aerated wastewater treatment system, must be licensed.

Water problems

Let us know immediately if you notice any problems with stormwater, water supply or sewerage in our city or any pollution problems.

Water disruptions

When we turn the water off for essential maintenance, we want you to know about it. (external link).

Water tankers

Wellington Water operates a permit system on behalf Porirua City Council for water tanker operators to draw water from the Council’s network.
