Dumped rubbish

We work hard to maintain Porirua City’s beautiful environment and make sure public areas are kept free of rubbish and hazardous waste.

Report any problems to us

Please let us know if you see littering or rubbish dumping on public property.

If you think the rubbish could be dangerous, toxic or a risk to people’s health, phone the Police on 111.

If hazardous oil, fuel, gas, chemical or another unidentified liquid or substance is spilt or leaked, contact the Fire Service on 111. The Fire Service will arrange for Police and specialist personnel to deal with the spill or leak.

Dispose of rubbish responsibly

Each week put your household rubbish and recycling at the kerb and we will pick it up in our weekly rubbish and recycling collection - or take reusable items to Trash Palace for recycling. You can also take your rubbish to the Spicer Landfill tip or the recycling stations at the landfill.

Computers, batteries, solvent-based paints, some older light fittings, oils, herbicides, insecticides and other chemicals can damage people’s health and the environment if not properly disposed of. Contact us on (04) 237 5089 to find out how to dispose of hazardous substance, including asbestos.
