Alterations, change of use or extending the life of your building

For alterations, change of use, extensions to specified intended life and subdivision of existing buildings, there are specific considerations that we are required to make decisions on. The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) guidance on change of use, alterations and extension of life is linked below. In the case of a subdivision of land to be effected by the grant of a cross lease or company lease, or by the deposit of a unit plan, the territorial authority needs to be satisfied that the provisions of the building code as described in section 116A of the Act have been complied with.
